Kelly Moran is a pianist, composer, and producer based in New York. Constructing opulent formations of prepared-piano, electronics, and synths, she yields profoundly personal works of elysian harmony that bear the studied mark of a wide-range of experimental and ambient giants from Fennesz and Ryuichi Sakamoto to Pauline Oliveros to John Cage to Tim Hecker to Lubomyr Melnyk. Her album Optimist cultivates an ornate motion that’s inviting and poignant, an intimate rebuke of omnipresent turmoil and turbulance. Moran has already received enthusiastic recognition for her international performances, including most recently as a keyboardist in Daniel Lopatin’s (Oneohtrix Point Never) MYRIAD Ensemble, and the self-recorded Optimist reveals an intrepid artist already cresting the apex of her gifts.
